چکیده

Background There is growing evidence supporting an association between gut microbiota and the risk of systemic sclerosis (SSc)[1]. However, causal relationship SSc remains ambiguous. Objectives A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to reveal SSc. Methods We obtained data on intestinal flora from MR-base website [2] 218,499 samples for IEU database a MR analysis. Inverse variance weighting, MR-Egger, weighted median were used examine Then series sensitivity analyses verify robustness results. Finally, bacteria which appeared causality with subjected reverse assess possibility causality. Results variance-weighted estimates indicated that genus Collinsella (odds ratio(OR) = 8.982, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.571-51.366,P 0.014), phylum Actinobacteria (OR 5.746, CI: 1.247-26.491,P 0.025), Ruminococcaceae 5.500, 1.477-20.477,P 0.011) had effect ( Table 1 ). According results analysis, no significant flora. No heterogeneity or horizontal pleiotropy instrumental variables found. Conclusion The present study revealed three microflora genera SSc, providing new insights into mechanisms microbiota-mediated scleroderma development. Data Mining: Cause or Consequence

Data mining arose as a merge of several areas such as databases, statistics and artificial intelligence, and has been growing steadily in the last 20 years. Recently, the popularization of the concepts of Data Science and Big Data accelerated the process. In this seminar we try to answer the question whether data mining is cause or consequence of these recent developments through an integrated ...

Sleep and mortality: cause, consequence, or symptom?

Epidemiologic studies of self-reported sleep and health status began to appear more than 40 years ago. However, in the last 15 years there has been an explosion of population science on the relationships between sleep quantity and quality as well as a variety of health outcomes, and the implications for public health have become apparent [1]. There is sufficient evidence to support the idea tha...

Depression and dementia: cause, consequence or coincidence?

The relationship between depression and dementia is complex and still not well understood. A number of different views exist regarding how the two conditions are linked as well as the underlying neurobiological mechanisms at work. This narrative review examined longitudinal and cross sectional studies in the existing literature and determined the evidence supporting depression being a risk fact...

Depression and stroke: cause or consequence?

Depression after stroke is common. Although different opinions exist about the definition, diagnosis, and measurement of outcomes related to depression after stroke, there is little debate about the prevalence of depression symptoms and their impact on stroke survivors and their families. Depression after stroke has long been recognized as a common condition with many negative effects in the po...

Celiac Disease, Gut-Brain Axis, and Behavior: Cause, Consequence, or Merely Epiphenomenon?

The classic view of celiac disease as a gastrointestinal disorder of childhood has radically changed in the past few decades thanks to a better understanding of its pathogenesis. Celiac disease is now considered an autoimmune enteropathy triggered by the ingestion of glutencontaining grains in genetically susceptible individuals. 1 Although the gastrointestinal tract is the target of the autoim...
